A message from the President
Energy production and its use are at the core of the national and global economies. Worldwide demand for energy is rising, especially in emerging markets such as China and India. As these and other markets continue to grow, global demand for petroleum products will continue to increase. Major weather events and political uncertainty contribute to upward pressure on prices for crude oil, natural gas and other sources of energy.
At Western Refining, we understand the importance of providing energy for people and for the businesses that we all depend upon everyday. A consistent supply of fuel is critical to our national security and economic well-being. We take this job very seriously.
We recognize that a clean and healthy environment is a major factor in our quality of life, both here in the United States and throughout the world. Energy production and ecological concerns must strike an equitable balance. We are committed to clean air, water and land. Not only does our environment personally affect each of us and our families, but protecting it is just simply the right thing to do. As such, our environmental policy parameters exceed local, regional and national standards. We have spent a great deal of time, energy and money to achieve these goals, and we will continue to invest in technology and manpower to ensure that our environmental safeguards and standards remain exemplary within our industry.
On behalf of all of us at Western Refining, let me reaffirm our commitment to providing quality fuels to our customers, value to our shareholders, and maintaining a proactive environmental policy.
